I’ve been taught not to be oblivious to information. I committed myself to this: Since I know how to listen, read and study then I should always be willing to hear new and different information. Sometimes I will not agree with the information, but at least I’d know that there is another way in which people think or perceive things. So, since the issue of one artist storming out of church issue, I was actually enticed by the REACTIONS OR responses from people- From celebrities – pastors – ministries – friends – and people I don’t even know. So, I read and read and read. And I loved the humour that came with it. IT WAS INTERESTING!!

In my eyes, the famous phrases were the following. “The bible cannot be edited to suit the feelings of the people” “Murderers do not storm out of church when murder is preached” “Correction is judgement to those that still love sin” “Do not judge, it’s only God who can Judge” “Straight people can continue go to heaven, We gay people will sort ourselves out” “How can you buy a bible and when it’s read you get angry” “If gay people get offended when homosexuality is preached, then they should stay home- do not come to church” “We are not going to drop our Christian standards for people who want to go to hell knowingly” “This is homophobic”

Interesting. I loved them. I liked them and everything in between. What I realised though was a – DIVISION.

So yeah, I’ll kind of address some of the phrases above as I go along.

Firstly, I write this for homosexuals. And everybody interested in just knowing.

Secondly, for BORN-AGAIN CHRISTIANS (that’s why I said- Christ’s body) who believe that homosexuality is sin.

Y.E.S There are some Pastors and Christians who believe it’s not sin if homosexual sex is within the context of a loving, committed, monogamous relationship/marriage. However, that’s for another day!

1. Homosexuals.
“Straight people can continue go to heaven, We gay people will sort ourselves out” “This is homophobic”
I think it is very important for homosexuals to realise this:
  • Rather than looking at the hate speech from a Christian friend about your sexuality just take the love part. YES. Your friends and probably your family loves you, so it’s disheartening for them to just watch you go to hell. Yes. you probably say, “well, they’ve got a very funny way of showing it.”
  • Your truths aren’t the same. Yours might be, ‘But I was born this way’ theirs could be, ‘It is your choice’
  • They think you are broken, that you need to fixed. Yes. It might not be true to you, but it is to them. So, it is very important for you to realise what they see.
  • And No. Your response is not bad. I just think you are responding to what and how you received it.
2. Christ’s body

I’d only be focusing on the born-again Christians because I feel it is very important for them to realise this for the sake of the body they chose to be part of. Yes. Christians who are not born-again might differ altogether with those that are born-again and thus, with this writing.

  1. Why are you did you decide to be born-again?
  2. Do you consider yourself religious or spiritual?
  3. Which one is your assignment TO RESTORE OR TO THROW STONES?
  4. Is there a difference between Moses and Jesus in terms of dealing with Sin?
  5. Someone said that the reason we still use and have Old testament is the very same reason we have museums. Do you perhaps agree?
  6. How fair do you pray?
  7. What is grace? And what has it done in your life?

Please do not answer these questions to anyone, talk about them with God whilst in a bath tab.

I had a privilege of listening to Juanita, this will be more of reporting from her than it will be my own ideas. I’ll be quoting scriptures here, I use KJV, she used AMP.

  • When there is a situation, any situation it is very important to wonder and question yourself whether that issue if any of your business. Because that is what the bible says- that you should make it a study to mind your own business.
“If gay people get offended when homosexuality is preached, then they should stay home- do not come to church”
  • The bottom line is that the enemy aims to divide and conquer the concept-CHRISTIANITY. To divide it in a way that people do not agree or come together on issues. Why did you then choose to be Christ’s soldier of winning souls, then turn out and say: You don’t need to come to if church hurts. How then you are not saying: if church hurts, then it means your faith was not in God but in the people behind the pulpit. What are you going to then say to the Lord about a soul you chased out? That he didn’t want to repent? He didn’t want to listen? Interesting! The truth is whether you realise it or not, you are supporting and assisting the enemy in dividing the body.
  • John 3:11: Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
You cannot speak on anything, unless you absolutely know what you are talking about. You are not qualified to address any issue, unless you really know what you are talking about. Unless you are absolutely sure that you are the eye-witness.
So, it should be the main duty to ask: Do I really know what I am talking about? Am I absolutely sure about what I am going to say? Can I testify- Was I an eye-witness? Can I testify being an eye witness to what I have seen?

So, with John 3:11 being the foundation, it disqualifies a lot of Christians on addressing and talking about a LOT of issues as it relates to lives of people. You cannot testify, because you were not an eye-witness. You do not know what you are talking about.

“Correction is judgement to those that love sin” “We are not going to drop our Christian standards for people who want to go to hell knowingly” “Murderers do not storm out of church when murder is preached”
James 1:19- 20
  • Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: {1:20} For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
This is basically what God is saying, “be slow to speak. Quick to listen and when I release you to speak be careful and choose your words carefully.”
This situation doesn’t involve one type of conversation. There are many many many dialogues that are attached to this. Which mean it demands the attention on how you have conducted yourself, what you believe, how you believe it, how you say it, what’s right, what’s wrong.
  • She basically said: I stand up for people that feel as if their life choices are not God’s. We can become so arrogant that we believe is going to want Jesus. We can be so self-righteous to believe that everybody is going to want to know the plan of salvation. Am I called to harass those people? No. Am I called to condemn them? No. However, I am called to those who are in question about their decision. To those who The Lord has given an ear. So, when they come seeking, my job is to love them.
  • So, she goes on and say- She had gone to preach at a church. And there was a man dressed as woman. When the spirit of the Lord got higher, it said-“Go get him, and hug him” and she did. And he said that that love he felt that night, is what convicted him. Today he’s a man of God. Maybe this it is. The presence of God on people- Not antagonising them. Maybe you should ask, what would Jesus do? Or what would Jesus have me do?
  • “There is a system that was put in place that u grew up under, and there was a very harsh way of delivery people. And In that system- people preached people. They preached symptoms more than they preached the gospel. People preach symptoms, and they preach what they saw on people, rather than preaching the precepts.
  • Rather than finding a way on how to get people better, we preach what they are doing, how they are doing it, with who they are doing it with and what they look like. Preach the gospel.”
So, someone would say, “But that is the scripture- that is the gospel”
There are different people who are called to do different things in different seasons. You cannot have anger and resentment and then expect to produce righteousness. It won’t be everyone that says, “How do I get better?” but there would be people who would take that resentment, because that is what you delivered. People respond to you, how you respond to them.
  • The way you talk to people, that’s how they’d respond. Yes. That’s how it was in the past. You’d just stand up and say what you have to say. The more harsh and loud it is. The more they hear it. BUT PEOPLE ARE DAMAGED IN THIS AGE. PEOPLE ARE HURTING IN WAYS YOU KNOW NOT OF. THINGS YOU WOULDN’T EVEN HAVE SURVIVED.
How are you then defending the gospel? By preaching it in Love. In a way that God has called you to. If He has called you to throw stones, Then, that is okay.
Murders are most likely to go to church once they have been convicted. Once they have been saved. Do they have a reason to storm out? Maybe Not. Because they are, maybe, no longer guilty of it. They have been saved, they know grace. grace that which is universal and personal.
  • You need to understand that people love God. BUT THEY DON’T HAVE THE WILL POWER TO LIVE FOR HIM. THAT IS WHY IT TAKES ONLY HIM TO STRENGTHEN PEOPLE. PAUL SAID, WE DIE DAILY, NOT ALL AT ONCE. And just because you know how to do the aerobics in the spirit, that doesn’t mean everyone else does.
  • Stay in your lane. If God called you for healing bodies. Then do that. Do not go around addressing issues which are not yours to address. You are not called to do everything.
  • Don’t preach people. They know where they have been. They know exactly where they have been and you now it too. Give people solutions. Since everyone that has a bible knows that ‘Murder is sin’ How are you giving a solution to a murderer when you keep on hammering the fact that murder is sin and he’ll be off to hell. He knows that. YOU SHOULD KNOW, OUT OF ALL PEOPLE THAT IT IS NOT THE PEOPLE THAT DO THINGS, IT IS THE DEVIL IN THEM. YOU SHOULD KNOW. YOU SHOULD KNOW THE GRACE PRADIGMN. YOU SHOULD PAUL’S WORDS, “I do not what I want to do, but I do what I do not want to do” These are the eyes you should be having on people. Was it your spirit that said-IF THEY CAN’T TAKE THE TRUTH THEN TOUGH??? I am not saying sugar-coat the commandment, I am saying people know the commandments. You repeating them doesn’t help anybody.
  • Just because you know something, that doesn’t mean you should confront them. There is more drama going on already. Is it really worth it for you to keep on stirring it. Your love for people of God should be greater than your own desire to defend your honour.
  • She also spoke about her story with Bishop Eddie Long- who had sexually abused multiple male members of his church. She never laid an opinion about it. She never spoke about it. Because you only speak about that which you know for sure. However, she prayed.
(She prayed for Bishop and the victims-pray fair. Pray for all the parties). She had gone and loved him, sang a new life- new birth. Song for him. And he busted in tears, only then understanding what God’s love is able to do and he even wanted to record the song [Testify that which you are an eye-witness of. Only talk about that which you know for real.]
  • People are called to different things. John 8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
This is how then you separate the law from the spiritual. In the law, Moses was a man of God and he was called to give the law, to stone people, to condemn people. Moses (The murderer) was a man of God. Now, Jesus (God) -God who now becomes a man, says put your stones down. Because really, everyone will have time where it’s them and God ALONE – Then they’ll be able to testify that which they have eye witnessed and that which they absolutely know Moses was called to stone the sinners. Jesus came to lift them up. Are then Christians following their master? Are they called to throw rocks or to restore in spirit?
Galatians 6:1(Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.). And then decide which one are you? The spiritual or the religious?
ROMANS 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. {5:20} Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
  • 1 Samuel 6 The glory is now returned to its rightful place, to its rightful people.
They decided instead of us celebrating the glory, let us lift the lid and see the inside of it. BUT 1 Samuel 6:19 And he smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten [many] of the people with a great slaughter. {6:20} And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?

Do not get caught lifting someone’s lid. Don’t lift the lid. How someone is transitioning in their spirit, is none of your business. You are to celebrate the glory. You are to celebrate about the testimonies. You are to pray about the whole situation, not just one side. You can’t be a prayer warrior and only pray about one side.

There spirit of God does not go around unmasking the wrongdoing of people. Remember, Romans 5:19. As sin abound, Grace much more abound. Isaiah 1:18 …though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow

There is a greater plan of God in all this, than what you see.

Someone said, maybe that is why we are different, maybe that’s why. Because God is testing how deeply can we love each other.

If you want to receive mercy, then be merciful. Matthew 5:7.

You saying that Old Testament doesn’t apply anymore is just a history that people go back and check how easy it was for people to use scriptures to serve their own needs, it is a learning tool on how to deal with issues, it is a symbol to show how Christ has loved us, to show us the origin of sin, to show us how to valuable the grace and spiritual (NEW TESTAMENT) message is.

That Jesus was actually showing a way to go forward, as G says. That he gathered all the oppressed and marginalised individuals and communities and broke bread with them. Meaning, the current marginalised groups and people should be treated the same. If the church listen not, eat not, have not black women, black men, homosexual kids, transgered people, the disabled, the Muslims, the mentally ill, immigrants, the poor, we should question ourselves whether what we are running is a church where the vulnerable are safe or we are running a country club. Because honestly, Christianity is not a country club. It should be a movement. A heavens movement. A together we belong movement.

The marginalised do not need you to drop your standards. They can’t give you such huge responsibility. They do not even know those standards, because when they go to Old testament, and check the history of the church when it comes to the treatment of women, blacks, etc they see no standards. OR maybe they see them, but then they realise that they have dropped. You saying you are only protecting your belief is somewhat doubtful, what is your belief? who do you believe in? and what would He had you do? They have heard your shouting and chanting and have seen your faces, cashiers. They need you to show them your manager – JESUS. That’s all they need. That’s all they want. And that’s all you need to do. TAKE THEM TO YOUR MANAGER.

Quite frankly, I think the whole church, if it is able to distinguish the religious and the spiritual, would storm out when the sermon is religious and not adding value to Christ’s body.

Because you cannot evangelise and antagonise at the same time. NEVER. ZERO TIMES.

  1. Really enjoyed reading this post. Two important points that rang true for me were (1) only speak about things to which you are an eyewitness and (2) “you cannot evangelise and antagonise at the same time. NEVER.” There were a lot more than two though! You packed a great deal of truth into this post and presented it in a very loving way. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to think and grow!
